To Market, to market

What do you do in California if you want juicy, plump organic fruit like this for your cereal EVERY DAY, you spoiled, sundrenched hippy?

On a Wednesday or a Saturday, you hit the local Farmer's Market!

Local organic-crazed Californians searching for a bargain

Some fresh fruit and veg porn...

LOVING me some squash at the moment and always looking for more adventurous ways to use it. Couldn't resist these.

My adventurous buy of the week. Currently going to the blogiverse for ideas on recipes.

Seasonal goodness. Can't wait to carve our own!

Good old plum porn. I love these little juicy bastards, and the Farmer's Market haul is the best - firm and very very sweet.

I'm making an effort to eat almost entirely organic fruits, but apples are a hard one. The perfect Granny Smiths in the store are too big a temptation. Today I was firm with self and picked out some organic Grannies that looked just as good.

My complete haul. Usually it's more berry heavy, but I'm still gorging on Saturday's berry buys.

After all that effort supporting the local farmers and stocking belly with yummy organic goodness, it was time for lunch!

A few nights ago, I made a batch of Hungry Girl's cereal 'fried' chicken - a favorite, even with the fast food boyfriend. It's chicken strips coated in ground Fiber One cereal with garlic salt and pepper and oven cooked for 20 minutes. I always make a huge batch so that we have plenty of leftovers for sandwiches.

Take a few delicious strips:

Add sandwich, salad and last week's episode of Mad Men. Perfect pre-run lunch!

Finger crossed for a less traumatic treadmill report later today.
